Examples of the Difference We Make

The Health Education Council received a $1 million HEAL Zone grant which focused on increasing access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity in the Valley Hi community. Improvements included installing hydration stations at regional transit stations, expanding Safe Routes to School, establishing walking clubs and fitness programs and providing nutrition education at farmer’s markets.

 

WEAVE, Inc. received a $35,000 grant for its domestic violence assistance project, to ensure family violence victims have access to crisis intervention services. WEAVE provided safe shelter, case management, a support hotline, and walk-in services.
