Building Healthy Communities Is Our Mission

Kaiser Permanente's work in the community uniquely combines investments from our health plan as well as our hospitals and often includes medical expertise, health research, clinical programs, and volunteers.

Back to School Boost for Children In Need

Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit provided a $10,000 grant to the nonprofit Family Giving Tree — and employees and physicians raised an additional $3,200 — to purchase backpacks and school supplies. Employee volunteers also worked to fill the backpacks with materials ranging from paper and pencils to scientific calculators for high-school students.

A team of Kaiser Permanente registered nurses decided to get in on the action by gathering more than 200 additional backpacks and dozens of boxes of school supplies for the Children’s Fund of San Mateo County, a nonprofit dedicated to helping low-income and foster children.
